Why do I feel so insecure about my relationship with my boyfriend?

I've been with my bf for nearly a year now...mostly on and off...for the past month it started to get better we go out together, i stay at his place over the weekends, which i feel it's an improvement...i have 2 children with my ex which i split up from nearly 2 yrs ago...I'm not sure what he wants...i never ask him as i don't want to lose him cause i fel in love with him...I don't know what to do i feel so insecure... I'm so confused Any ideas?
